Trees Planted

Including 1.2 million indigenous trees and 648,000 mangroves, grown with individuals, corporates, the government, local and international partners and forest-adjacent communities across Kenya.

About Tree Niches

A Not-For-Profit Restoring Kenya's Tree Cover

We work in collaboration with individuals, local and international partners, corporates, the government and local communities to grow trees in schools, cities, farmlands and degraded forests — promoting healthy ecosystems, rich biodiversity, offsetting carbon dioxide emissions and improving local economies.

Our Vision

A future where healthy tree niches are sustainably managed by the people.

Our Mission

Establish tree niches in schools, cities, farmlands and reforest degraded natural forests and landscapes.

What We Do

Four Ways We Grow Tree Niches

From degraded forest blocks to school compounds and farmland, each programme puts the right trees in the right place — and returns to make sure they survive.

  • Tree Niches restoration team planting indigenous trees in a degraded forest landscape in Kenya

    Forest & Landscape Restoration

We establish and restore tree niches in degraded natural forests and landscapes so ecosystems can recover, hold water and store carbon again.

  • Farmer planting an agroforestry tree seedling on farmland in Kenya

    Agroforestry on Farms

We work with landowners to grow agroforestry trees through agreed farm models that pay back in soil, food and income.

  • Pupils and Tree Niches volunteers planting trees during a school tree planting activity

    School Tree Planting & Education

We believe the best approach to conserving healthy forests is early education and the practice of tree planting in schools.

  • Community members and Tree Niches team planting trees together in Kenya

    Community Forest Restoration

Local communities are fundamental to reforesting degraded natural forests — so we grow trees while growing livelihoods.

Why It Matters

Growing Trees Promotes

Every tree niche we establish works on four fronts at once.
